The game of polo has been
played in America for over a hundred years, and literally for centuries
- millennia - in other parts of the world. In fact, the first written
account of the game was from the Persians in 600 B.C. following
a match with the Turks. Back in those days, a polo match was played
after a battle, with the head of the losing general
being used as the ball.

Now, of course, people just lose their heads
figuratively, as polo often consumes the people who play. Sometimes
called "The Game of Kings," it has drawn a number of royals
to its ranks, but also a number of just famous people have mounted
their trusty steeds and taken up the game.
